Happy Days, another sample pack for testing has been promised! However, when it arrived, my strained heart nearly popped out of my chest. The thing is, if you are expecting a pack (1 pack), and a box (20 packs) arrives, you don't know what to think. "Excellent (snacktastic supplies) or Horror (heart attack)", all I can say now I seem to be eating more scratchings than usual is... ...everything in moderation. I shall just have to pace myself.
So I open the bag, they smell fairly light, not eye wateringly strong like some I have tried. Good forms, plenty of shapes and sizes indicating a more hand made rather than machine made product which is always a good sign. A variety of colours from a light brown to a dark nutty brown, which is also good. I spy a few with hairs which i do approve of (obviously). There are also some with remnants of meat on them, these are good, but I don't like too many per pack. I think of them as little highlights along the way.
They have exactly the right amount of salt on them (I'm now a convert to the less salty varieties) and taste of a pure scratching with added salt (nice salt too) rather than the more common porky flavourings you seem to get with the more 'manufactured' scratchings. The flavour has a sort of butteryness to it, presumably from the fat, this is not a problem at all however I do prefer a slightly more harsh taste.
None in this pack were going to break my jaw, and therefore I would say they are safe for all, rather than the expert 'stuntman concrete chewers'. Crunchy not dangerous.
In conclusion, these are very nice, you should try them and see.
